About The Event
Why is Harsh Records throwing this event?
-We at Harsh Records feel that the
underground artists in the DMV and abroad
need more venues and outlets for their
music. The radio doesn’t always show love,
and the mega-clubs NEVER play underground
music . This is an opportunity for artists
to hear the quality of their music compared
to the majors and also see how regular
people react to their songs when played next
to industry artists. We also believe in
networking and this is a great way for local
artists to meet. A&R ‘s and record labels
also like to hear these types of artists in
these settings before making decisions. The
DC area is a virtually untapped market, and
if we all work together, we can make it the
next music Mecca. Let’s make it happen!
What type of people will be attending this
event?
-This event is for anyone who wants to
listen to and support local artists from the
DMV and abroad. All
types of industry people will be attending,
from underground/indie/unsigned artists to
major labels.
Is there a dress code?
-No, this is an early evening party so we
want you to be comfortable. We do however
have the right to deny entry so please come
clean.
If someone wants to contact me will you give
them my information?
-Yes, we will provide them with whatever
information you would like us to provide.
Please send us the information in your
response to the question above.
Is there a cover charge?
-Yes, $5 per person.
Can I attend if I am over 18?
-Yes, but you will have to wear a wristband
and you will be thrown out if you are caught
drinking. We only allow this age group entry
because we want to help them get exposure.
If you are not an artist and you are under
21 you will not be denied entry, but we
encourage only artists in this age group to
attend. The fact that 18 years and up can
get in is not advertised publicly.
Do I have to attend to get my song played?
-Yes you will have to attend the event and
give your track information to the greeter
to have your song organized into the
playlist. Most artists want to see the
reaction of the crowd when their music is
played, we feel that the artists that attend
should have this opportunity . We will
however play tracks from artists who aren’t
able to attend because of distance, but have
made a buzz in their local areas. Also
artists who support this event and get a
good response from the crowd may be put on
the permanent track list for other weeks and
have their tracks played without them
attending.
What if I can’t make it the week that you
approve my track?
-If you can’t make it your track won’t be
played. If you want to come the following
week send an email to the Harsh employee
that contacted you and they will put you on
for the next week.
Can I sell my CD or promote at this event?
-Please keep any promotions inside the club
to a minimum. We will have a place for you
to leave any flyers/ promotional CD’s. We
would appreciate that you sell any CD’s
outside by the entry. Please keep in mind
that this is not strictly an industry event.
We don’t want our patrons to feel like they
are only there to receive promotions from
artists.
When and where is the event? -Pending new location
